SPIRITUAL QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Pray as if
everything depended on God, and work as if everything
depended upon you. [Cardinal Francis J. Spellman]
VERSE
OF THE WEEK
The wisdom
from above is first purer, then peaceable, gentle, willing
to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of
partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is
sown in peace for those who make peace
---James 3:13, 17-18
SPIRITUAL LIFE TIP
It was Martin Luther,
especially in times of unpeace and distress, who would tap
himself on the forehead and say to himself, by way of a
reminder, "Remember, Martin, you've
been baptized. You've been baptized."
It is good to remind ourselves
daily, even hourly, of Who is wise and understanding among
you? Show by your good life that your works are done with
gentleness born of wisdom . . . who we really are.
Fortunately, the start of Belonging to God: A
First Catechism cuts right to the chase with these
opening questions and answers:
"Who are you? I am a
child of God.
"What does it mean to be a
child of God? That I belong to God, who loves me.
"What makes you a child of
God? Grace---God's free gift of love that I do not
deserve and cannot earn.
"Do you have to be good for
God to love you? No. God loves me in spite of all I do
wrong."
Remind yourself every hour of
every day and live in the glorious truth that through Jesus
Christ, you are a child of God whom God loves more than you
can think, envision, or imagine.\
The Lord
guide you and keep you!
