THE CHURCH COMMITTEES
The church committees are headed and staffed by at-large members
of the congregation. Below you will find a brief description of
each of the committees. If you want to learn more about one or
more of them with the idea of using your gifts to further their
work and ministry, you may contact the church office
(256-383-1717):
The Worship Committee is responsible to help the
congregation fulfill the first and third Great Ends of the Church:
“the proclamation of the Gospel for the salvation of humankind”
and “the maintenance of divine worship”, all in ways to enrich and
enhance worship, to make worship more appealing to newcomers and
guests, and to prompt us and move us to live from our main purpose
in this life, namely, to worship and glorify God and enjoy God
forever.
The Witness and Service Committee is responsible to help
the congregation fulfill the First, Fifth, and Sixth Great Ends of
the Church: "the proclamation of the Gospel for the salvation of
humankind", "the promotion of social righteousness" and "the
exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world" through
planning, maintaining, publicizing, and maximizing participation
in local mission and outreach in addition to mission and ministry
opportunities provided by the denomination.
The Commitment and Stewardship Committee is responsible to
help educate our people about what it means to be a steward of
God’s gifts and blessings, to deepen the commitment of this church
to serve God and Jesus Christ through lifting up, with enthusiasm,
the challenge and privilege of good and faithful stewardship of
our time, talents, resources, and money.
The Christian Education Committee is responsible for the
spiritual nurture of the members of the church and, responding to
expressed and discerned needs, to initiate, promote, support, and
maximize participation in the educational programs in the life of
this church.
